Even I hated modern algebra and complex analysis..and all those abstract stuff. In fact these were the reasons which made me switch to Statistics, instead of going for Maths major. I can never understand what and why its gonna help us. But as far as Real is concerned. I am okay with it. And believe me, when you get to know how its directly getting used in Statistics, you automatically realise that it is beautiful. But that realisation takes ages..same was the case with me.<br />And hey!! I ain't full fledge teacher..still in transition phases :)deephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08626410277484761005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8998915061360718170.post-22648491487006452572010-12-04T07:46:53.131+05:302010-12-04T07:46:53.131+05:30What a coincidence! All those closure and limit point and numerous other theorems gave me headache. Then came Complex Analysis which was interesting. Finally we had Functional Analysis this semester and it wasn't that interesting but wasn't boring either. I hate it when they ask us to prove theorems in exams. The abstract nature of the theorem makes it difficult for us to grasp it fully and I don't think we learn much just by going through theorems and without delving into their applications. Also I had this strong dislike for Modern Algebra for the way it was taught to us. I would say one more thing. I think my basic maths skill has become weaker as I'm learning higher, abstract and useless mathematics! Sorry for taking up so much space but it was a complaint from a student to a teacher :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
